Curriculum Vitae
Dr Marc Frick is a senior researcher in the Social Transitions Research Group and a project coordinator in the General Secretariat at the University of Basel. His interdisciplinary research focuses on analysing, understanding and informing context-specific solutions for positive social change.
Dr. Frick previously conducted research on ecological economics, environmental policy, and social theory at Heidelberg University and the ZEW Leibniz Centre for European Economic Research in Mannheim, Germany. He received his PhD in Political Science from Heidelberg University for a thesis investigating the practices of gift-giving and generosity following the tradition of Marcel Mauss's work. He also holds a Master's degree in Philosophy and a Bachelor’s degree in Philosophy and Economics, both from Heidelberg University. In his role as a project coordinator in higher education management, he is particularly interested in how the higher education sector can contribute to solving societal challenges.
