Robert Schäfer teaches qualitative methods at the Department of Sociology. As a sociologist of culture and religion, he deals with current theories of secularization, non-religion and investigates secular world views. He is particularly interested in the different forms of criticism and justification in modern society.
Robert Schäfer studied sociology and religious studies in Bern and holds a doctorate in sociology. He worked as scientific assistant at the Universities of Magdeburg and Koblenz-Landau and as post-doc senior researcher at the Department of Social Work, Social Policy and Global Development at the University of Fribourg. He is a lecturer in sociology at the FernUni Switzerland.
